Recent additions to this collection feature a more narrative quality, illustrating and epic battle between a ship and a fantastical sea creature. Other pieces focus on stylizing rhythmic wave patterns. Using a light colored stoneware and black engobe, they are an attempt to evoke pen and ink or woodblock illustrations. The goal is to create functional pottery that allows you to hold a story in your hands.

The Undersea Collection has become a means to combining two mediums: drawing and ceramics. And, it has served as an opportunity to explore a well-loved subject matter: the sea.
